Do not be scared of the name of this recipe. It might sound a little strange, but once you get passed the name, you'll only be focused on how flavorful this meal is! This meal was brought up during the Great Depression, made for rationing reasons. It is a recipe that I can literally make with my eyes closed! If you love meatloaf and any beef stew, this recipe is for you!

Ingredients

1 ½ pounds ground beef

1 diced onion

1 diced bell pepper

¼ cup uncooked long grain jasmine rice

2 tbsp minced garlic

½ cup beef broth

3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp Tony Chachere's Bold Seasoning

1 tsp italian seasoning

1 tsp black pepper

½ tsp salt

For the sauce:

29 oz can tomato sauce

1 ½ cups beef broth

3 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (often referred as the W sauce)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, add the ground beef, onion, belle pepper, rice, garlic, W sauce and seasonings. Mix until all is well combined.

½ cup beef broth

1 tsp Tony Chachere's Bold Seasoning

1 tsp italian seasoning

Step 3

Add the beef broth and mix. Keep adding more beef broth if necessary (the meat needs to be moistened for the rice to cook inside.)

Step 4

Form the ground beef mix into balls, a bit smaller than a golf ball. Place the balls in a deep oven-safe dish.

Step 5

In a medium bowl, combine the tomato sauce, beef broth, seasonings and W sauce. Stir until mixed well and pour over the balls in the oven-safe pan.

Step 6

Cover the dish with the top of the pan or foil and cook in the oven for 45 minutes, (You may have to stop halfway to flip them over.)

Step 7

Once it it has cooked for 45 minutes, lower the oven temperature to 350 degrees, and cook uncovered for another 10-15 minutes more.

Step 8

Sprinkle parsley and serve with the more sauce on top. Enjoy!
