Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1 pound ground pork, mild
1 tbsp unsalted butter
1 tbsp olive oil
1 cup chopped holy trinity (celery, bell peppers, and onions)
2 tbsp minced garlic
1 tbsp Creole seasoning
1 tbsp old bay seasoning
1 tsp red pepper flakes
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp Italian seasoning
½ tsp each salt
½ tsp black pepper
½ cayenne pepper
4 cups beef broth, low sodium
2 cups long grain rice, rinsed
2 bay leaves
Directions
Step 1
On medium high heat, add the ground beef and pork to a large pot and cook until meat is no longer pink. Drain and set to the side.

Add butter and olive oil and once melted, add minced garlic. Cook a couple of minutes until it becomes fragrant, then add holy trinity and cook for 4 minutes until soft and translucent. Add the minced garlic and beef/pork mixture back to the pot.

Add in seasonings and mix well. Then add the beef broth and stir. Add in the rinsed rice. Let it come to a rolling boil and lower the temperature to low. Add the two bay leaves.

Cover the pot and let the rice cook for 25 minutes or until cooked all the way through. Once done, remove from heat and let it sit for about 10 minutes. Remove bay leaves and fluff rice with a fork. Serve hot.
