Ingredients
100 grams sourdough starter (active or discard will work)
325 grams warm water
20 grams salt
30 grams sugar
30 grams melted butter
550 grams flour
For the Sugar Coating
⅓ cup brown sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
For the Sugar Glaze
1 stick butter, melted
⅓ cup brown sugar
1 tbsp cinnamon (adjust to taste)
Directions
Step 1
Mix together your water and starter. This recipe works great with either active starter or discard.
Step 2
Stir in your salt, butter, and sugar (or honey).
Step 3
Add in your flour and mix together until mostly incorporated. Turn out onto counter and knead until dough is of uniform consistency. You can also use a stand mixer to do the same.
Step 4
Next, I put mine into the oven with the light on. Be sure to put a sticky note over your control panel so you don’t turn your oven on if you do this.
Step 5
Mix tour sugar coating together. Cut or pinch off pieces of your dough the size of a ping pong ball. Don’t be too picky.
Step 6
Toss your dough balls into the sugar mixture, then set into a 9x9 greased baking dish
Step 7
Cover tightly and place into the fridge overnight.
Step 8
In the morning, melt your butter and then mix in your brown sugar and cinnamon. Pour over top of your dough.
Step 9
Preheat oven to 400°F. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until browned on the top and center is no longer raw dough.
Step 10
Tip upside down and enjoy (occasionally) 😂
