Marinated Steak Nachos

I love steak plain with just a little salt and pepper and cooked to perfection, but I’d put this steak marinade up against any other. This recipe combines the flavors of lime juice, orange juice, garlic, and spices to create a delicious marinade for flank steak. Serve the marinated steak in nachos, tacos, burritos, or enjoy it plain!

Ingredients

Subrecipe 1

2 lbs Flank steak

Tortilla chips

Tomatoes, diced

Onions, diced

Pickled jalapeños

Queso

⅓ cup lime juice

½ cup orange juice

¼ cup olive oil

10 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp oregano

1 ½ tsp cumin

¼ tsp cayenne pepper

⅓ cup cilantro, chopped

1 ½ tsp salt

1 tsp black pepper

Marinade

⅓ cup lime juice

½ cup orange juice

¼ cup olive oil

10 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp oregano

1 ½ tsp cumin

¼ tsp cayenne pepper

⅓ cup cilantro, chopped

1 ½ tsp salt

1 tsp black pepper

Directions

Subrecipe 1

Step 1

Trim your flank steaks of any excessive fat. Lay flat into a baking/serving dish and slice into the steak diagonally about 1/4 inch deep with a knife. Turn 90° and slice again.

Step 2

Combine marinade ingredients. Mix together until combined. Pour over top your steak. Cover and place into the fridge for at least one hour, or up to 24.

Step 3

Remove from fridge and let rest while you preheat a pan to medium high heat.

Step 4

Once heated, add your steak to the pan and cook on each side for about 5 minutes until a nice sear forms. Cook to your desired doneness, but flank steak is perfect at medium.

Step 5

Remove from pan once done and let rest for 10 minutes. Once rested, slice across the grain into long thin strips, then cut into short strips.

Step 6

Serve and enjoy in nachos, tacos, burrito, or just eat it plain!
