Ingredients
8 sausage links
8 sturdy wooden skewers
2 cups All purpose or plain flour
¼ cup Granulated sugar
1 tbsp vanilla bean paste
4 tsp Baking powder
¼ tsp Baking soda
1 egg
½ tsp Salt
½ cup heavy cream
¾ cup Milk
¼ cup melted Butter
1 tbsp ground cinnamon
Caramel sauce for dipping (optional)
For Cinnamon Sugar
½ cup granulated sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
Directions
Step 1
In a skillet on medium heat cook sausages on all sides until done. Once done remove from pan and sit aside to cool
Step 2
Carefully insert the skewer through the center of each sausage, leaving enough room on the end to hold the stick comfortably.
Step 3
In a large bowl whisk flour , sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.
Step 4
In another bowl combine heavy cream, milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla bean paste. Whisk well.
Step 5
Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture and combine.
Step 6
Dip each skewered sausage into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated.
Step 7
Heat about 2 inches of oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C). Carefully place the battered sausages in the oil and fry for 2–4 minutes, or until golden brown.
Step 8
Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Step 9
Drizzle with caramel sauce or syrup. Serve immediately
