Grilled cheese is so simple, yet somehow so easy to get wrong. This is the air-fryer version of my mom's recipe, and I have had several people tell me it's the nest they have ever had. The secret? Mayonnaise! it makes the outside of the sandwich brown and crispy, and the tang gives that je ne sais quoi.

Ingredients

Bread: preferably thick, like potato bread

Cheddar cheese, sliced

Mayonnaise

Tools

Air Fryer

Directions

Step 1

Put the slices of cheese between the slices of bread: You need to be careful here- you want it thick, but not too thick. Use a cheese slicer on block cheese.

Step 2

Slather mayonnaise on the outside of the bread. That's right: mayonnaise. Trust me.

Pop it in the air fryer at 390 degrees for 8 minutes, flipping half way. (You may need to experiment a bit with your air fryer.
